The other day at church the pastor was trying to explain that the Greek word for hate has a couple of different meanings. One is that you just kinda don’t like something… the other meaning is that full blown super dislike you have for something… like the New England Patriots… at least that’s what my sermon notes say… and ya gotta trust your sermon notes.
So the sermon at church the other day was about a buncha knuckleheads that were trying to insult Jesus by calling him Beelzebub because Beelzebub was some kinda creepy Phoenician fly god and flies are always buzzing around poop and these religious goobers thought that was a pretty good insult to hurl at Jesus and I’m pretty sure the preacher called Beelzebub the poop god and I could be wrong about that but that’s what it says in my sermon notes. My interpretation of Beelzebub and a Phoenician’s interpretation of Beelzebub may differ slightly.
…so I show up at church last Sunday and our preacher is launching a brand new nine week sermon series from the book of Romans and he is using the tv show Breaking Bad as his theme. The stage has those iconic Breaking Bad green chemistry symbol things all over it and somehow Walter White… er… Heisenberg made a threatening appearance on my sermon notes.
