Here’s a “work in progress” of a tiny bit of a much larger illustration I’m working on. I start with a pencil illustration, add flat color to it and then render the image. I like to leave as much pencil work in the finished illustration as possible so that the “fingerprints of the artist” are still visible. 🙂
When I was a kid, I really enjoyed watching Hogan’s Heroes on TV, so it was pretty exciting when this job rolled across my desk. The magazine article is built around the old television show and the editor originally just wanted me to draw the author (dressed as Hogan) climbing over a fence… but there was no way I was ONLY going to do that. I suggested adding Sergeant Shultz and Colonel Klink, they agreed and this is what I came up with.
I have a Work In Progress on my Behance Portfolio site if you would like to see this picture created from start to finish. To see it CLICK HERE.
