The first Jones family vehicle that I can remember was a 1956 Chevy Belair. There were no seatbelts or carseats back in those days so it was the wild, wild west for kids in the backseat of a car. One day my mom was driving to town and heard me making horse galloping noises in the back seat. She took a quick look back and I had one leg hanging out the back window and was riding the car door like a horse. Ah, the good ole days…
My Grandfather had a this in a four door Brown and Tan. Great car.
👍
I remember that car. Thank goodness the ride to town from 9th street was only a few blocks. Don was probably trying to ride the other door. (: Good times!!! Great memories!!!
Hi Ron! Don was probably riding on the front bumper 🙂
Probably. hahaha
I coach girls golf in in the fall and boys in the spring for Springfield Public Schools. I see Don a few time each year taking pictures at some of the golf tournaments in which my golfers play. Our season begins August 7 so I will probably run across in September. Take care.
Very fun and love the backstory. You might have inspired me to illustrate the old ‘77 Oldsmobile station wagon we used to sleep in the back of for long trips as kids. It had that classy wood paneling, ha! Glad Dad was a safe driver.
