Since I am currently trapped inside my house because of the weather I thought I would experiment with making a blog post using my iPad instead of my computer, so here we go…
I’ve recently been doing a lot of painting on my iPad using the Procreate app and Apple Pencil. I’ve used the Procreate app since it first came out and love the way it records videos of your work. I’ve been posting these little 30 second videos on my Instagram page.
These are just quick little sketchbook ideas, so sometimes I throw random scenery into the background (as I did on this one) and paint my characters on top of it.
I scribbled this guy out last Saturday as I was waiting for the football games to start. He’s one of my favorite characters from the game AC-Odyssey, Barnabas the sailor man. I still had time to kill, so I added some color and a background… and then watched one of the craziest weekends of football ever!
LSU and Clemson play in the college football national championship game on Monday night and since the Georgia Bulldogs did NOT make it this year we will probably NOT be seeing that many dog piles during the game.
I play a game called Elder Scrolls Online where I occasionally have to save the world from infestations of dragons, monsters and various other unsavory creatures. One of the things I like best about the game is it allows you to construct your very own custom characters. As I illustrated this picture of a fellow I designed, I discovered there seems to be a disconnect between the character I see on my Xbox and the character I see in my head. He’s an orc named WeaselHammer, he’s a tank and that’s his ferocious war chicken Frank who stands faithfully at his side, ready for action.
I had a hankering (Missouri Speak) to make pictures on my iPhone Xr with the ProCreate Pocket App, but I needed some sort of fine tip stylus to draw with, so I dug around on Amazon, took a shot in the dark and ordered an inexpensive Meko Fine Tip Stylus. I crossed my fingers and hoped it would work… and it actually did. In fact, it worked surprisingly well.
Super simple to turn on and off, charges with a USB, has a rubbery tip that feels good on the glass and my experience with their customer service was the best. I made a short video of my first attempt at using the stylus on my phone.
The story continues in issue five. THE FEW Comic Book Series is now available for purchase on Amazon in digital form. These are Kindle books and can be viewed on almost any device by using the FREE Kindle app. You can see them HERE.
